Sony VAIO CRSony today introduced VAIO CR 14.1-inch entertainment notebook series, featuring Intel “Santa Rosa” mobile platform and “eye-popping colors and a chic design”.

Sony VAIO CR is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processor and based on the Intel GM965 chipset with integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. The notebook’s 14.1″ widescreen display provides 1280-by-800 pixel resolution. Sony VAIO CR supports up to 4GB of system memory and comes with up to 200GB hard drive, which is available in select models. It has a built-in DVD burner.

The new notebooks have Intel’s wireless module supporting 802.11n draft standard, Ethernet LAN, and a 56k modem. Regarding ports and slots, each Sony VAIO CR has three USB ports, ExpressCard slot, Memory Stick Duo card reader, Secure Digital slot, VGA and S-Video outputs, and Firewire port.

The 5.5 pound CR sports “a luxurious” glossy finish and is framed with a silver, luminous trim. It is available in five colors: sangria, cosmopolitan, dove, indigo and black (matte finish).

Sony VAIO CR comes pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium operating system or with the optional Windows Vista Business edition.

The CR notebooks will be available at the end of June starting at about $1,350. Pre-orders begin online today at www.sonystyle.com/pr/cr.
