Sony’s recently announced VAIO F Series Notebook PC is now available for pre-order.
Designed for entertainment, the Sony VAIO F features a 16.4-inch 1600×900 or 1920×1080 display, the Intel Core i7-720QM or i7-820QM quad-core processor, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, up to 640GB of hard drive space or a 256GB solid state drive, and optical drive choices including a DVD burner, a Blu-ray combo drive, or a Blu-ray writer.
The VAIO F models with the 1600×900 screen include the NVIDIA GeForce 310M 512MB video card, whereas the 1920×1080 configurations come with the GeForce GT 330M 1GB GPU.
Select F Series models feature an innovative technology called TransferJet, which lets users transfer photos from compatible cameras to the laptop by simply placing the camera on the notebook’s palm rest.
The laptop sports a built-in web camera and microphone, Dolby Home Theatre audio, a LED backlight keyboard with a numeric pad, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth, two USB ports and an eSATA/USB combo port, an ExpressCard slot, HDMI and VGA outputs, an SD/Memory Stick Pro card reader, and a Firewire port.
Sony says the VAIO F provides up to 3 hours and up to 4.5 hours of run time with the standard and extended battery, respectively.
With the standard battery, it weighs 6.9 pounds.
The Sony VAIO F runs Windows 7 OS and comes in black and gray colors.
It has a base price of $1,000 and can be pre-ordered through Sony’s official website.
