Sony Vaio GAlthough it is not officially announced in the United States yet, this week introduced “world’s lightest 12.-inch notebook” Sony Vaio G is available for purchase directly from Japan via Dynamism.com. Featuring carbon fiber casing, the Vaio G weights 1.98lbs, but the optional integrated DVD drive will boost notebook’s weight to 2.17 lbs.

Along with 1024×768 display, Sony Vaio G features Intel’s Celeron or Core Solo ultra-low voltage (ULV) U1300 at 1.06GHz or U1400 at 1.2GHz processors. Based on Intel 945GMS Express chipset, the ultraportable Vaio G has integrated Media accelerator 950 graphics, 802.11a/b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, up to 80GB hard drive, and up to 1.5GB of main memory. Sony Vaio G incorporates LAN, 56k modem, two USB ports, VGA-out, multi-format memory card reader, PCMCIA slot and a fingerprint reader. Some of the Vaio G configurations also have i.LINK port.

Sony Vaio G is said to has 6 hours of battery life with 4-cell battery, and it comes with Windows Vista XP Pro OS.

The starting price of Sony’s new G ultraportable starts at $1899 at Dynamism.com.
