Sony Vaio VGN-AR230G The 17-inch widescreen Sony Vaio VGN-AR230G, the first entertainment Sony’s AR notebook with Core 2 Duo Mobile (Merom) processor, is now available at SonyStyle.com. The Vaio VGN-AR230G comes with a T5600 (1.83GHz, 2MB L2 cache) CPU, an 1GB DDR2 SDRAM (expandable to maximal 2GB), an 200GB 4200rpm SATA hard drive and a dual layer DVD burner .

Regarding graphics, the Vaio AR230G is powered by NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 card which has 64MB of dedicated memory, expandable to 256MB of video RAM using dynamically allocated system memory by NVIDIA’s TurboCache Technology. The laptop has VGA out with Smart Display Sensor, HDMI out and S-Video.

For connectivity, The Sony Vaio VGN-AR230G incorporates built-in 802.11a/b/g wireless, Fast Ethernet 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX (RJ-45), and an integrated V.92/V.90 Modem.

The laptop’s multimedia card reader supports optional Memory Stick and Memory Stick DUO media with MagicGate functionality and Secure Digital Media (SD). The VGN-AR230G has one PCMCIA - Type II/Type I card slot with CardBus support and one ExpressCard/54 slot. The new Vaio entertainment notebook incorporates 3 USB ports, 1 i.LINKĀ® connector (IEEE 1394), 1 microphone in and ExpressCard/34 slot 5-in-1 Memory Card Adapter (supports Memory Stick, Memory StickĀ® PRO, Secure Digital, xD-Picture Card, & MultiMediaCard MMC).

The Sony Vaio VGN-AR230G comes with Microsoft Windows XP Media Edition 2005.

The estimated battery life for this laptop is 1.5 to 2 hours with standard battery. The Vaio VGN-AR230G weights 8.4lbs approximately, it’s black and costs $1,800.
