Sony Vaio VGN-SZ340 CTO, a new Core 2 Duo (Merom)-powered laptop from Sony’s 13.3-inch widescreen SZ series is now available at SonyStyle.com. This CTO (configure-to-order) notebook features choice of T7600, T7400, T7200 or T5600 Core 2 Duo CPU. For low-budget customers, there is also an option to configure the VGN-SZ340 with Intel’s Celeron processor.
Regarding graphics, the PC features Sony’s Hybrid System with a hardware switch for toggling between an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, for optimal power consumption, and a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400, for better performance.
The Sony Vaio VGN-SZ340 supports up to 2GB of DDR2 memory, and has a 5400rpm SATA hard drive with choice of storage space from 40GB to 160GB. You can also select a combo optical drive or a DVD burner.
The connectivity features include Wireless LAN (802.11a/b/g), Bluetooth, 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet with RJ-45 interface and an integrated V.90/V.92 modem.
There are various slots and ports such as ExpressCard/34 Slot with 5-in-1 Memory Card Adaptor, PCMCIA slot, Memory Stick DUO reader, a 4pin i.LINK connector (IEEE 1394), 2 USB 2.0 ports, port replicator connector and a VGA out.
The CTO SZ340 laptop enables you to choose an optional web cam and microphone.
The Sony Vaio VGN-SZ340, which has charcoal black magnesium casing with silver or black keyboard, weights around 4.07 lbs. with a standard battery.
The notebook comes with Windows XP Professional or Home Edition, and its price starts at $1,320. The cheapest configuration includes Celeron processor, while the lowest priced Core 2 Duo configuration costs $1,525 and includes T5600 CPU.
