Sony Electronics will soon be offering Sony Vaio VGN-TXN10 ultra-portable laptops featuring integrated broadband-capable wide area network technology from Sprint.
The 11.1-inch widescreen Sony Vaio VGN-TXN10 notebooks incorporate Sony’s SmartWi technology, integrating wireless WAN, 802.11 b/g, wireless LAN and Bluetooth technologies. Sprint expects to upgrade its network in select markets with EVDO Revision A (Rev. A) technology later this year, so customers will experience broadband upload speeds as well where and when the Rev. A network is deployed. EVDO will enable average download speeds of 450 to 800 kbps and upload speeds of 300 to 400 kbps, according to press release.
Powered by ultra-low voltage (ULV) Intel Core Solo processor, Sony Vaio VGN-TXN10 has battery life of “between 5 to 11 hours”. It has carbon fiber chassis in charcoal, platinum, sienna and slate blue color, and it weights around 2.8 pounds.
Sony VAIO VGN-TX N10 Series notebooks, with mobile broadband capability, will be available in late September, starting at about $2,300 , and can be purchased at select retailers and dealers nationwide, online at http://www.sony.com/pr/tx or at SonyStyle stores in select fashion malls around the country, the press release says.
