The Acer Aspire E 14 ES1-411-C507 Signature Edition is an extremely cheap 14″ laptop, which is currently on sale at Microsoft Store for only $200. The smaller version of the 15.6″ E 15 ES1 retains the same 1366-by-768 display resolution, Intel’s Celeron entry-level processor, other important specs, and matte black plastic design, while offering a greater portability.

The 14-incher weighs in at 4 pounds versus 4,7 and has a smaller footprint too. The plastic-cladded laptop packs the Intel Celeron N2840 dual-core processor, with entry-level performance. It is suitable for the day-to-day tasks, like web surfing, movie watching, writing in Word, and Excel calculations, but not much more than that. On the positive side, it runs cool and quiet. You can find out more about it in this review. Unfortunately, the Acer Aspire E 14 ES1-411-C507 Signature Edition configuration comes with only 2 Gigabytes of RAM memory. It limits multitasking potential of Windows operating system, which requires at least 4 Gigabytes for optimal work. The hard disk is a standard-size one, with a capacity of 500GB and 5,400rpm rotational speed. RAM and HDD aren’t user-upgradeable.

Acer Aspire E 14 ES1-411-C507 Signature Edition 2

In other aspects, the laptop isn’t exceptionally well equipped. It has no touchscreen and DVD optical drive, nor IPS wide viewing angle technology and keyboard backlight, which are characteristics of pricier systems. It also has only two USB ports, instead of usual three or four. But, it does provide stereo speakers, a web camera, HDMI video output, Wi-Fi and Ethernet LAN network support, Bluetooth, and a multi-format media card reader.

According to Acer, the battery life on the notebook lasts “up to five hours”. The battery isn’t user-removable and is sealed inside the chassis.

Regarding the Microsoft Store’s exclusive Signature Edition mark, it means Windows operating system is free of annoying third party trial programs, which usually bloat other PCs on the market.
