Acer Aspire V3-472P-324J Cheap 14″ Laptop with Intel i3
The Acer Aspire V3-472P-324J is an inexpensive touchscreen mainstream laptop with a screen size a bit smaller than usual. The display diagonal is 14 inhces long, instead of more common 15.6″. The screen resolution remained the same as on the majority of 15.6-inchers at 1366×768 pixels, so user-experience regarding the display real estate hasn’t been changed much.
Since it has a smaller display and no built-in DVD drive, one would think Acer’s V3-472P-324J is quite portable and easy to carry around. But surprisingly the notebook weighs 5.4 pounds which is heavier than many 15.6-inchers with DVDs. When you add thickness of the chassis of 1.2″ to the mix, you get a quite bulky 14″ laptop by today’s standards.
Inside the silver chasis with aluminum palmrest and plastic lid with brushed-metal-like finish, Acer has packed a lower-mid-range Intel Core i3-4030U dual-core processor, 4GB of RAM memory, and a 500GB hard drive. The i3 / 4GB combination ensures you won’t encounter any hiccups in your daily home and office work on the computer. If you do heavy high-resolution video and image processing regularly, an i5 or i7 chip is recommended, but otherwise the i3 will satisfy needs of the vast majority of users. As for gaming, the Intel HD 4400 integrated graphics can run decently the latest games on the low settings and some older and less demanding titles on mids and highs.
Speed-wise, the bottleneck of the system is the slow and averagely-sized 500GB HDD spinnig at 5,400rpm, but that kind of internal storage is standard for non-premium-class laptops.
Alongside the touchscreen, for interaction with software you can use the full-size keyboard with no key backlight and a single-piece trackpad with integrated buttons in it. As expected for a 14-incher, the V3-472P-324J doesn’t have enough space on the keyboard deck for a dedicated numeric pad.
In addition to stereo speakers and a built-in web camera, the laptop comes with all necessary ports and networking features. There are three USBs, HDMI video connector plus the traditional VGA video port, a media card reader, 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, and Bluetooth.
We have no info on the battery life, but with six-cells and 5000 mAh it is quite capacious.

Danijel Z –
Pros:
– Excellent price for a touch laptop with Intel i3.
– Keyboard with good key travel, flex free.
– Sturdy aluminum keyboard deck / palmrest.
– Good overall build quality for a low-cost laptop.
– Removable battery.
Cons:
– Heavy and thick for a 14-incher.
– No DVD.
– RAM and HDD upgrades require removal of many screws on the bottom.
Other thoughts:
– The screen is just another average TN 1366×768 panel, but it overall produces a bright picture with quite vivid colors. TN = no wide viewing angles.
– The LCD lid is made of plastic, but looks and feels very similar to aluminum on the keyboad deck.
