The Asus VivoBook E200HA series 11.6-inch laptops are known for their great portability, battery life, and affordable pricing. The ASUS VivoBook E200HA-US01-GD and E200HA-UB02-GD are two most popular models from the 2.2-pound “everyday computing on-the-go” notebook series.

These “Aurora Gold”-colored models have the common 1366-by-768-pixel display resolution, Intel’s Atom quad-core x5-Z8300 processor, and 32GB eMMC-type internal data storage with Windows 10 Home operating system pre-loaded. The screen doesn’t support touch input nor IPS wide viewing angles. Interaction with Windows and programs relies on a chiclet-style keyboard and spacious trackpad. The only notable difference between the VivoBook E200HA-US01-GD and E200HA-UB02-GD is the system memory size. The E200HA-US01-GD has 2GB RAM, whereas the UB02-GD includes 4GB.

As a bonus, buyers of these laptops get a free 1-year subscription for Microsoft Office 365 Personal, with popular programs like MS Word and Excel included.

In short, the E200HA US01-GD / UB02-GD are typical budget-class ultraportables with basic performance and limited storage capacities. With these specs, they however don’t lag behind their main competitors, such as the Dell Inspiron 3162 or HP Stream 11. It’s worth noting here that the majority of available E200HA models share the same specs with the US01-GD 2GB configuration, but they feature different chassis colors. Models with a larger 64GB or 128GB eMMC drive do exist also, but are rarely available.

Regarding real-world use of the ASUS VivoBook E200HA-US01-GD and E200HA-UB02-GD, they are certainly among the least powerful Windows laptop PCs on the market, but still are quite suitable for your daily home and office tasks. Of course, you can’t expect speed of the mainstream Intel Core i-series chips out of the entry-level Atom CPU, despite having four computing cores instead of usual two. But, it can run the popular apps like web browsers, Office programs, indie games, and media players decently smooth. The 2GB version of the laptop won’t be suitable for those who run many programs simultaneously, since the low RAM amount cripples the system’s multitasking potential. Normally, modern laptops have at least 4GB RAM, so the UB02-GD is highly recommended over its 2GB sibling. The weakest point of the notebooks is storage space. With only 32GB you won’t be able to install too many large programs and store your huge audio & video libraries. Luckily, these Asus laptops have a built-in microSD card reader, so you can separately buy a compatible memory card to expand the embedded storage.

Besides the microSD slot, the VivoBook E200HA features a USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 port, micro HDMI video output, and a combo audio jack for both headphones and microphone connection. For Internet connectivity, the laptop uses 802.11AC Wi-Fi wireless, while online video chats are enabled through the frontal web camera with low VGA picture quality.

The notebook’s battery capacity of 38 WHr is relatively big considering the size of the device. The battery life varies depending on computing intensity, screen brightness settings, and other factors, but Asus claims the battery life is “up to 13 hours (video playback)” on the E200HA series.
