Asus X205TA-UH01-WH Signature Edition Laptop is currently one of the cheapest laptops based on Windows OS. Priced at under $200, the X205TA-UH01-WH delivers entry-level performance and a great portability in a small 11.6-inch from factor.

The notebook is a great companion for work on the go, not only because of it’s light weight of 2.2 pounds and thinness of 0.7″, but also because of a great battery life. Asus estimates the X205TA can last up to 12 hours on a single charge. Computing wise, the Asus X205TA-UH01-WH Signature Edition won’t win any speed awards, but it can juggle usual daily tasks such as web surfing, office productivity, media streaming, and light gaming. This little machine is based on the low-end Z3735F Intel Atom “Bay Trail” processor and has 2GB of system memory, which isn’t a generous amount for today’s PC standards. Data storage space is scarce, too. The capacity is only 32GB and Windows itself takes about a half of it. Memory and storage aren’t upgradeable, but a built-in microSD card slot can help you expand the storage space. Included 2 years of free 100GB OneDrive cloud storage can be handy, too.

Alongside the 11.6″ 1366-by-768-pixel display panel without touch input support, the X205TA-UH01-WH has a relatively spacious keyboard and trackpad, stereo speakers, a web camera with low VGA resolution, Wi-Fi network connection, Bluetooth, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI video out jack, a combo audio port, and the aforementioned microSD slot.

The notebook has white chassis, with color-matching keyboard keys, as opposed to the blue version with identical specifications.

Another laptop similar to the Asus X205TA-UH01-WH Signature Edition, but with better specs, is the Asus X200MA ($230). It has the same screen size and similar computing speed, but provides touchscreen support, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard disk drive. Alternatively, you can also take a look at HP’s contender in the budget 11.6″ category, the HP Stream 11.

Software-wise, the Asus runs the latest Windows 8.1. Unfortunately, a free subscription for Microsoft Office 365 isn’t bundled with the laptop, as opposed to the HP Stream. Since it is a Signature Edition product, the Asus X205TA-UH01-WH is bloatware-free and comes with a free anti-virus pre-loaded.
