Dell Inspiron I3558-0954BLK 15.6″ Laptop (Intel Core i3, 6GB Memory, 1TB Hard Drive, Black)
The Dell Inspiron I3558-0954BLK is an affordable 15.6-inch laptop with good performance for everyday tasks of the average PC user. The notebook features an Intel Core i3 dual-core processor, 6GB of RAM, and a 1TB hard drive with Windows 10 Home pre-installed, all packed into a simple designed yet elegant black plastic chassis.
Note: Best Buy initially listed the I3558-0954BLK as a touchscreen laptop, but touch support is now missing on the specs sheet of the laptop. So apparently, it isn’t touch-enabled. This computer is a part of Black Friday lineup at Best Buy (SKU: 5579387).
The included 5th Generation Intel Core i3-5005U dual-core processor enables you to complete your routine computing duties without lags. 6GB of system memory is a satisfactory size for the majority of users. Only heavy multitaskers might find it insufficient. Thankfully, the laptop has two RAM slots so you can expand existing DDR3L RAM. But sadly, to access the memory slots (and hard drive), you have to remove the keyboard and the whole bottom of the laptop’s base. There’s no any dedicated and easily removable cover for RAM / HDD upgrades. As for gaming, the laptop relies on the Intel HD 5500 integrated graphics, which is fast enough only for the basic gaming, like playing non-demanding and old 3D titles or some indie games. On the other hand, the provided 1TB HDD offers ample of storage space for files and programs. The laptop has a built-in DVD burner optical drive.
Specifications of the 15.6″ display are basic and in line with the budget orientation of the laptop. The screen resolution is 1366-by-768 pixels. The panel is TN-based, meaning a lack of IPS-class wide viewing angles.
Just like all Dell i3558 configurations, the Dell Inspiron I3558-0954BLK has stereo speakers, a 720p web camera, two USB 2.0 ports and a USB 3.0 port, HDMI video output connector, a multi-in-one media card reader, a combined mic-in / headphone-out audio port, and an Ethernet LAN jack. Furthermore, the laptop has 802.11AC wireless built-in, as well as Bluetooth interface.
The user removable battery of the I3558-0954BLK has a medium-size capacity of 40 WHr. We have no info on battery life, but one can assume a run time of 4-5 hours on a charge, judging from the specs of the notebook.
This model weighs in at 4.7 pounds and measures 0.9″ in profile.

I am confused between HP 15-AY103DX / 15-BS015DX 15.6″ TOUCH-SCREEN LAPTOP (INTEL CORE I5, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD) and DELL INSPIRON I3558-0954BLK 15.6″ LAPTOP (INTEL CORE I3, 6GB MEMORY, 1TB HARD DRIVE, BLACK). The former one is priced at 399 US Dollars and the latter one at 200 Dollar. Which is the better one from a durability standpoint and daily activities point of view? Thanks in advance!!

Hi, I can’t comment on durability of these two particular models since I don’t own them. I briefly used them in a nearby laptop store and they are similar in terms of build quality. Both laptops have similar budget-class casings made of plastics. Personally, I would vote for Dell because I owned the previous (very similar) Inspiron 3000 model and it didn’t show any significant “wear and tear” signs after two years of use.
As for performance in day to day tasks: The Dell has a slower processor than the HP model with 3,000 versus 4,700 points in PassMark CPU benchmark. This may seem to be a significant gap, but in normal daily tasks it isn’t. Running Windows and programs on the HP will feel slightly snappier. The difference will be more noticeable during more demanding operations like converting video and audio files. The difference will be roughly in line with the CPU benchmark in that case.
Both 6GB and 8GB RAM sizes are enough for the normal daily activities.
As for the price, the HP’s pricing is decent, while the Dell price seems to be a great deal (if the laptop is brand new).
I hope this helps!

Does it come with global warrany?

I don’t think so. Usually, international warranty for Dell laptops is provided only for some business laptop models and requires a special warranty package which is sold with these laptops. But, its best to contact Dell directly and ask them about this.

Should I get this or the Dell Inspiron I3558-5501BLK? My main concern is performance. Is i3 enough for Netflix, Minecraft, and educational Internet apps?

There’s no need to upgrade to the i5 model, the i3 is excellent for these tasks. You won’t be to run Minecraft on maximal settings, but rather on medium. The i5 in the 5501BLK isn’t much better for Minecraft since it has the same graphics processor.
