HP Stream 14 (14-ax010nr / 14-ax020nr) 14″ Low-Cost Laptop (Intel Celeron N3060, 4GB RAM, 32GB eMMC)

The HP Stream 14 (14-ax010nr / 14-ax020nr) is a new extremely affordable and colorful notebook series. With a starting price of only $220, the Stream 14 offers a 14-inch 1366×768-pixel display, basic performance, a free Microsoft Office 365 Personal 1-year subscription, sporty and sleek aqua blue (14-ax010nr) or violet purple (14-ax020nr) chassis with white keyboard keys, and an excellent battery life.

Under the hood, the 3.2-pound Stream 14 packs Intel’s Celeron N3060 dual-core processor, 4GB of system memory, and 32GB of eMMC-based internal data storage space. These specs clearly indicate the laptop is good for only the basic home and office computing tasks. The Celeron N3060 is one of the weakest on today’s market, but still, that’s not a big problem if you only do web surfing, work in Office programs, or watch Netflix and YouTube videos. Thankfully, HP has included 4GB of RAM, instead of 2GB found in the previous Stream laptops. This means you won’t be having old problems with system lags when running multiple programs simultaneously. On the other hand, only 32GB of data storage capacity heavily limits your ability to store large video and music libraries and other files on this machine. But, you can expand your storage by inserting a memory card into laptop’s SD card slot.

The laptop isn’t too robustly equipped, but it still packs all important necessities. There’s pair of built-in speakers, a 720p web camera, a pair of the latest full-size USB 3.1 ports and one older USB 2.0 port, HDMI external display output, 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless, Bluetooth, the aforementioned multi-format media card reader, and a combo mic-in / headphones-out audio port.

According to HP, the 41 WHr battery inside the 14-ax010nr / 14-ax020nr can provide almost 11 hours of battery life.

Overall, the Stream 14 won’t win any speed reward and doesn’t include some useful features like touchscreen, IPS wide viewing angles, or keyboard backlight. But, it can get your daily PC job done without constant need for a power socket, can easily fit in your bag, and above all, it’s very affordable.
