Lenovo Y40 – 59416787
The Lenovo Y40 – 59416787 is the least expensive among the Y40 14″ gaming notebook configurations, but it’s still excellently equipped. Alongside the AMD Radeon R9 M270 video card with 2GB of dedicated video memory, 1920×1080 Full HD resolution, the energy efficient and cool but still capable i7-4500U processor, 8GB of RAM memory, and a 256GB solid state drive, the Y40 – 59416787 packs a backlit keyboard, stereo speakers, HDMI out, and all the necessary ports, slots, and networking features.
It’s basically a smaller version of the 15.6-inch Y50, which is expected to be one of the laptop bestsellers, due to gaming-class performance packed in a sleek 0.9″ thin chassis and optional 3840-by-2160-pixel screen resolution. The Y40 isn’t as fast since the Radeon R9 M270 GPU isn’t as fast as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M and it has the ultra-low voltage Intel i7 with two cores instead of a full-blown quad-core i7. Also, the only resolution choice on it is 1920×1080, which is still great for a 14″ laptop. On the positive side, the Y40 is of course smaller and lighter and should run cooler. Therefore, it appears to be designed for frequent travelers who want access to decent gaming performance and flawless Windows experience on the go.
As a side note, another difference is that the Y40 has no dedicated numeric pad on the keyboard.
