Lenovo Yoga 2 11 – 59417911 / 59430714 2-in-1 11.6″ Touch Laptop
The 11.6″ Lenovo Yoga 2 11 – 59417911 and 59430714 3-pound ultraportables with 0.7″ thin profile offer not only operation as a classic laptop and tablet. They can be put in the “tent” and “stand” modes, optimized for movie watching and PowerPoint presentations. That’s thanks to its hinge which rotates 360 degrees.
The 59417911 and 59430714 are basically the same laptops, with color of the lid as the only difference. On the former it’s silver, while the latter has black.
The Yoga 2 11 – 59417911 / 59430714 is just a slightly upgraded version of the previously released Yoga 2 11 – 59401972. The upgrade has been done only in the processor department. The 59417911 comes with the i3-4012Y dual-core 1.5GHz processor, whereas the 59401972 is based on the Pentium N3520. The i3 is a lower mid-range part, while the Pentium is a low-end chip. Both are satisfactory for routine computing purposes. Office tasks, web surfing, and multimedia consumption can be done flawlessly on both of them. But, the i3-4012Y has a better benchmark score, meaning it will perform more complex operations faster, such as file conversion, photo editing, and similar. It’s worth noting that the CPUs inside the Yoga 2 11 models are designed with power-efficiency in mind. The trade-off in comparison to the less power efficient i3 versions – i3 U and M series – is lower performance. Also, the integrated Intel HD 4200 graphics inside the i3 Y is a bit slower than the HD 4400 and HD 4600 in the U and M series, respectively. But, any of them isn’t enough powerful for serious gaming.
Multitasking on Lenovo’s Yoga 2 11 – 59417911 / 59430714 is helped by 4GB of RAM memory. It’s large enough for having many browser tabs and programs opened simultaneously. The average user rarely needs more than 4GB. The hard drive has 500GB capacity, which is a standard size among lower-end and mid-tier laptops.
For typing and interaction with Windows and apps, the Yoga has a decently sized keyboard and trackpad, besides the 10-finger touchscreen. The keyboard is from the AccuType series, meaning that it has ergonomic smile-shaped keys. Only backlight for keys is missing for a complete typing pleasure. You should however keep in mind that the Yoga 2 11 isn’t a premium machine. For keyboard backlight, faster processor, higher-resolution screen, and better casing materials than on the plastic Yoga 2 11, you can check out the 13.3″ Yoga 3 Pro.
The Yoga 2 11 – 59417911 / 59430714 has stereo speakers and a frontal webcam. It isn’t as rich equipped with ports and slots as the classic full-size laptops. It has a micro HDMI port, but only two USBs and it lacks VGA video output and Ethernet network jack. A media card reader is present, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.

Is it normal in this 11.6 Lenovo laptop for the base of the keyboard to move or sway up and down when pressure is applied to a key thereby moving the other keys around the one key that is being pressed ?Do you think I got a defective one? Other than this obvious fault I love this computer. Thank you for any input you may have to help decide to keep it. I just got it yesterday at Best Buy.

That’s keyboard flex, which isn’t pleasant but is quite common on many laptops on the market. For flex-free typing, you should check out some of the laptops with aluminum keyboard deck.
