The Lenovo Yoga 2 11 – 59430705 / 59421188 is a light and thin ultraportable laptop with an 11.6-inch touch display and hinge that allows it to fold back 360°. This enables use of the Yoga in normal laptop mode, but also as a slate or in stand and tent presentation and movie-watching modes.

With a price tag of above 700 dollars, the Yoga 2 11 – 59430705 / 59421188 configuration is considerably pricier than many models from the same series. That’s partially because of use of the somewhat pricey Intel Core i5-4012Y processor and partially because of inclusion of a 128GB solid state drive storage instead of a traditional hard disk. RAM amount is also great: 8GB and IPS technology is included to provide wide viewing angles on the display. However, other aspects of the notebook reveal its budget nature. The screen resolution is mediocre 1366×768 pixels and there’s no keyboard backlight or extra perks such as Intel Wireless Display technology. For these you should check out some of the Yoga Pro 13.3″ models with higher-resolution screens and other premium features.

The i5-4012Y is a kind of mid-range processor, but it doesn’t deliver computing speed as seen on the i5 “U” series CPUs, such as the popular i5-4200U/4210U. For comparison the “Y” version has a benchmark score of around 2,100 points, while “U” variant scores more than 3,000. Also, the Intel HD 4200 graphics integrated in the i5-4012Y is a tad slower than the HD 4400 found in the i5-4200U/4210U. Overall performance has been sacrificed for the interest of power-efficiency and therefore longer battery life. It lasts up to six hours, according to Lenovo. All factors combined, the CPU inside the Lenovo Yoga 2 11 – 59430705 / 59421188 can handle all daily computing tasks effortlessly and with extra responsiveness thanks to the included SSD instead of slower HDD storage. For video creation, photo editing, and other more complex tasks, laptops with the i5 “U” chips or higher and SSD are better and recommended.

As same as all currently available laptops by Lenovo, the Yoga 2 11 sports special ergonomically shaped keyboard keys. The trackpad has integrated click buttons and is there to accompany the 10-point touch display for interaction with software and data input.

Other important features are stereo speakers, front-facing web camera with 720p resolution, a micro HDMI video output, two USB ports, media card reader, and Wi-Fi wireless and Bluetooth interfaces.

Is keyboard flex on this one really that bad? The Yoga 2 really suits my needs, but I’m wondering if flex is a real dealbreaker.
