Lenovo has refreshed recently the Yoga 2 Pro premium convertible 13.3-inch notebook lineup with the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 59418309 model. The 59418309 configuration however doesn’t offer much novelty. The only update is actually in the CPU department which got a minor speed bump, going from the Intel Core i7-4500U included in some older models to the i7-4510U chip in the new one. These are among the fastest processors for thin-and-light laptops like the Yoga 2 Pro. They’re good not only for routine daily tasks, but also for some more intensive stuff like video production. Instead of the generally sluggish mechanical hard drive, the convertible comes with a much faster solid state drive. The trade off here is smaller capacity. This model ships with a 256GB SSD unit, whereas even the least expensive laptops ship with 500GB HDDs. Instead of usual 4GB of system memory, the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 59418309 ships with 8GB, ensuring seamless multitasking even in the most complex scenarios.

The area where the Yoga 2 Pro really shines in is the display. As you may already know, it can fully rotate around the hinge, enabling use of the device as a laptop, stand, tent, or tablet. The screen supports 10-point multitouch input and features IPS wide viewing angle technology, but the main selling point of it is the screen resolution. It’s 3200 x 1800 pixels, so the image is sharper even than on the Full HD 1920 x 1080 screens.

Another input method is via the keyboard and trackpad, of course. The notebook incorporates the AccuType ergonomic keyboard with backlight keys and a spacious trackpad with integrated left and right click buttons.

Regarding design, it’s apparent right off the bat that the Yoga 2 11 is a sleek notebook. It has a profile measuring only 0.6″, which is exceptional for a fully-equipped notebook (true, with no DVD drive). The laptop is pretty much light too for a 13.3-incher. It weighs 3.1 pounds. As opposed to orange models, this one comes in silver color.

The machine is equipped with stereo speakers and a webcam mounted on the top LCD bezel. Besides a single USB 3.0 port and another one at 2.0 speed, the Yoga has micro HDMI video connector and a multiformat media card reader. For wireless connection to Internet it uses 802.11n Wi-Fi, while for hooking up HDTVs and monitors wirelessly there’s Intel WiDi technology built-in. Bluetooth is also present, but the notebook lacks wired Ethernet network port.

The battery life is rated at up to 6 hours and 15 minutes, according to Lenovo.

User Reviews and Q&A on the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 59418309

Below you can read and submit user reviews, questions, and answers about the laptop. Thank you for your contribution.

  1. Dave

I’ve had this Laptop for 4 years with basically no problems till recently. I’ve been experiencing screen flashing on/off, and using a work around by plugging the AC adapter in and then out. Also, the power up fails after the Lenovo logo appears and keyboard lights up and the powers off immediately. The work around for this is to use the NOVO button which displays a recovery window. Selecting “Normal Startup from the menu brings the system up normally.
