Toshiba Satellite C55t-C5300 15.6″ Touch Laptop with Intel i3 CPU, 6GB RAM, 1TB HDD
The Toshiba Satellite C55t-C5300 is an affordable full-size 15.6-inch laptop with touchscreen display. The C55t-C5300 offers decent performance, thanks to the Intel Core i3-5020U processor and 6GB system memory, and plenty of storage space provided by a 1-Terabyte hard drive.
The budget-class mainstream laptop has a decent feature set, including a spacious keyboard with numeric pad, DVD burner drive, stereo speakers, 720p webcam, Wi-Fi N, Bluetooth, and Ethernet LAN connections, three USB ports, HDMI video out, media card reader, and a combo audio jack. On the other hand, premium-class features like Full HD display resolution, IPS wide viewing angles, and keyboard backlight are missing. The screen resolution is the classic 1366-by-768 pixels. The whole body is made of plastics, but with a brushed-metal-like finish on the keyboard deck and relatively thin profile of 1.1″, Toshiba’s C55t-C5300 looks stately elegant.
When it’s off the grid, the 5.1-pound notebook draws power from a decently-capacious 45 WHr battery. There’s no info on battery life for this particular model, but one can safely assume you can get more than 4 hours of run time if you do light computing and dial down screen brightness.

5 out of 5 Perfect Laptop for doing almost everything. NOT A GAMING LAPTOP.

This is kind of a reply and a review at the same time. I do not see my reply posted up top. So, I am going to copy & paste what I wrote. But first I’ll give it a quick review.
This laptop is can handle almost anything. I stream movies as well as torrent them. Mainly because I like to watch my movies in Ultra HD 4k HDR. Anyway, I also use multiple browsers. I video chat as well. Sometimes I do everything all at the same time. I bought this used in 2020 for $60. The guy I bought it from worked for General Motors. He used it for work purposes. He was definitely wealthy. He took out the 1TB HD and put in a Kingston 110GB SSD. It’s small but fast. INSTANT! The 1TB that comes with it is not slow either. Not like the 1st review. He doesn’t know squat. He probably has nothing but crap on his HD and never cleans it. No not with soap and water. He probably would think that.
I would give this Laptop 10 stars. It is also upgradable too. Make sure you have knowledge in what you are buying. Never believe a salesman. Unless you know for a fact they know what they are talking about. Which means you need to know what you are talking about to know if they are BS’ing you.
***Here’s my copy&paste***
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this laptop. It is not trash. Anyone buying this laptop for gaming is Trash. Meaning your knowledge of computers is TRASH! I hate when people put products down when they have zero knowledge in a product. Nothing is wrong with camera either. You just need High Speed Internet. I bought this laptop used for $60 because the guy took the 1TB HD and put in a 120GB Kingston SSD. Also, it was 4 years old. I use Discord, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera GX, Netflix, HBO MAX and I even Play 1 game Battlefield 2 (Vanilla [if you know computers and are a
gamer you should know what that means] Version). I also use Discord to video chat and use Google Duo to video chat as well. No issues what so ever. My Wifi download speeds are 33.9Mbps Download and 5.64Mbps Upload. Hardwired is a lot faster obviously! See my screenshot for my specs. Oh, I also torrent too. Don’t knock this laptop! It does what it can handle perfectly! It is not meant for gaming. It is also, upgradable to 16gb RAM. Which is what I am going to do. Do I need to? No, but I am because I can. I’ll upgrade the hell out of it.

I completely agree! I’ve had this laptop for almost 6 years and although the battery life isn’t that great after all this time (I basically have it plugged in all the time), there is so much I do on it. I have the original specs, have not upgraded it at all and have been able to browse the internet, play music, have my WFH apps open and it does well. I use Excel a lot and it’s never failed me when I have to do heavy data analysis. I also use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and am able to multitask with those programs open. It’s only now after years of hard use that it’s starting to get a little slow on me so I’ll be upgrading the RAM and switching to SSD. It is not a gaming laptop but it can handle a hell of a lot of other things.
panos –
me too! but you can always upgrade it from 6 gigs to 8 or 16 gigs if have the right amount of money, have a monitor also will increase ur fps meaning you can game on it and upgrade from hdd to ssd, so in conclusion, you CAN game on it but only if you do these upgrades
Levi K –
It’s now 2023, I bought it in 2015. Still works great, just bought a new laptop because this one was getting slow. But still works pretty good. The touch screen went after a couple of years but other than that I never had any serious issues with it.
1 out of 5 Awful piece of trash
Anthony –
this laptop is garbage and I can’t even do anything without the app freezing
an i3 is horrendous
intel hd graphics are trash
6gb is so little compared to 8 (the extra 2gb goes a long way)
the hard drive is so slow
just browsing chrome and discord causes memory usage to spike up to 4gb used
i have to close all apps to play a game due to 6gb ram being so little
games run awful on my laptop
25 frames on tf2 on low settings
minecraft with optifine gets 60+ fps
but when i go on populated servers like hypixel, fps drops to 25

Thanks for your feedback. You’re right that this laptop isn’t a good one for gaming. It’s an entry level laptop best suited for casual web browsing and email.
Sergio Nuñez –
how does it works with ZOOM and other meetings app ???
Jacob Hough –
It should work fine connecting and speaking through ZOOM. However, I would say that the built-in camera’s quality is laggy and not very pleasant.
panos –
bro hell naw, try upgrading ur toshiba but if you cant, try optimizing windows and then go to tf2 and write this command (accessable with this button= `) unless you dont have it enabled go to advanced settings then scroll untill you see this: enable commands, then click on the box

Hi, it is normal for a laptop battery to lose capacity over time and 2 years isn’t a short period for a laptop battery if it was used frequently. To check if the battery lost its capacity due to aging, open Windows PowerShell, type powercfg /batteryreport and press enter. In the generated battery report file, take a look and compare DESIGN CAPACITY and FULL CHARGE CAPACITY. If the Full Charge is significantly lower than the Design Capacity, that means your battery lost the capacity and that’s the main reason for the shorter battery life. You can also take a look at this post about battery life savings under Windows: https://laptoping.com/best-3-ways-to-save-battery-life-on-any-windows-10-laptop.html

Average computer person –
Battery life is about 4-6 hours depending how you use it
Andre –
There are 2 screws where the battery is, you have to remove them to remove the battery.

I want to install a Windows 7 operating system but I don’t know if it’s a 32 bit or 64 bit system that is needed. Can anyone help me with this?

Danijel Z –
The Intel Core i3 is a 64-bit processor. It means the i3 supports both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. Since 32-bit can’t utilize more than approximately 3.5 GB of RAM and the C55t-5300 has 6GB, a 64-bit version is recommended so you can use whole RAM of the laptop.

I have this laptop, i just wanna ask what will be the changes if i upgrade the ram to 16gb? And can i change the internal Hdd into an Sdd?
Notify me of replies Unwatch this thread
Danijel Z –
In most cases, for the average user getting 16GB instead of 8GB won’t be noticeable. 16GB is needed only in some scenarios like in some professional video editing work or very heavy multitasking – running many programs at the same time. However, if you’re coming from 4GB RAM getting 8GB might make sense if you’re a heavy multitasker.
More about it in this post: http://laptoping.com/laptop-pc-ram-size-and-performance-explained.html
Yes HDD can be changed to SSD, but this model is not friendly when it comes to user upgradeability (no dedicated cover for RAM / storage upgrades). Opening the laptop might void your warranty, too.

I have had a 15+ year old Toshiba Laptop. I wanted more performance so I got a Dell 8400 desktop with a I5 chip, the mother board burned up after a short time 18 months just out of Warranty, I then bought a Dell XPS 8500, shortly after the warranty ran out, the mother board shorted out. While all this was going on I always went back to my 15 year plus Toshiba laptop. It then occurred to me.
Buy a Toshiba – Satellite 15.6″ Touch-Screen Laptop – Intel Core i3 – 6GB Memory – 1TB Hard Drive – Brushed Black
and I bought this on model and it is great. It performs very well and It even works well when I am working on some Spread Sheets. The main reason for buying this is PROVEN reliability…

Wanting to upgrade RAM as well and graphics card…… nothing high end or fancy just wondering if i can. Any suggestions?
Notify me of replies Unwatch this thread
Danijel Z –
This laptop has 6GB of RAM, meaning that there must be two memory slots inside – one populated with 2GB and second with 4GB. Therefore, you can install up to 16GB RAM with two 8GB modules. Just check with your seller first if opening the laptop and replacing RAM voids the warranty. As for graphics, it is not upgradeable.

This laptop is okay, not the best, I’d say, but okay. I have an issue with the fact that you cannot have YouTube pulled up when removing headphones from the headphone jack. I pulled out my headphones while listening to YouTube, and it somehow makes the videos stop playing, and I get a suggestion to restart this stupid laptop. I thought that playing videos while unplugging tripped something in the computer, but I found that pausing the video before taking out my headphones and the same stuff happened. Only sometimes does the videos keep working after taking out my headphones. I don’t want to keep restarting my laptop for something that SHOULDN’T be happening! Also, I was having issues with the DNS server, which is supposedly a glitch caused by the new Windows 10 upgrade. BEWARE!

I’d also like to add a discovery that removing headphones from the headphone jack completely trips something in the speakers, and sound does NOT play whatsoever! This is ridiculous!

The audio device driver update causes your sound to shoot up to 100, scaring you, and waking up family. NOT pleased, at all.

This happens to me sometimes I use chrome as my search engine and what I do to fix it is just close chrome and bring it up again.
