Toshiba Satellite E305-S1995 – Affordable Core i5 Laptop with Extras

The 14″ Toshiba Satellite E305-S1995 with an Intel Core i5 processor is another affordable mainstream laptop choice this holiday season.

With a price of $600 after instant savings, the Best Buy exclusive Toshiba Satellite E305-S1995 is $100 more expensive than the similarly specced 15.6″ Samsung NP-RC512-W02US, but the Toshiba has a few extras such as Blu-ray combo drive, Intel Wireless Display technology, and built-in WiMAX connectivity, as well as a backlight keyboard and aluminum chassis in champagne color.

The 5-pound 1.3″ thin Satellite E305-S1995 has the Core i5-2410M “Sandy Bridge” TurboBoost-enabled CPU with dual cores and a clock speed from 2.3GHz to 2.9GHz, depending on usage. Toshiba’s notebook comes with 6GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD with an embedded 4GB solid state drive for better system performance. The 14” display is a 1366×768-pixel panel, powered by Intel HD integrated graphics.

According to the product page, the battery lasts up to seven hours and ten minutes on a single charge.

For video chats, there’s a built-in web camera and microphone. Besides WiMAX, the laptop can get you online via Wi-Fi and Etnernet LAN. Bluetooth is not present.

Ports and slots include a single USB 3.0, two USB 2.0, HDMI, VGA, and a media card reader.

The Toshiba Satellite E305-S1995 runs Windows 7 Home Premium.

We weren’t able to find any Satellite E305-S1995 reviews online, but you can check out reviews of the E305-S1990 on CNet, Engadget, and Notebook Review. The difference between the E305-S1995 and E305-S1990 is larger amount of RAM on the S1995.

  1. Had this a day and returned it because it shutdown on me 6 times. I assumed it was software related, but didn’t want to take any chances. Best Buy didn’t have anymore in stock so I am currently waiting on my replacement. Hopefully the GeekSquad guys won’t get a chance to upload all of their BS onto it so I won’t have to remove it all. Before the problems, I was able to watch a Blu-ray on it and was happy with the display and sound quality.
