Toshiba today announced its new 14.1-inch widescreen Satellite M115 laptops. The Toshiba Satellite M115 notebooks feature 5400 rpm SATA hard disk drives, and maximum 2GB of DDR2 533 MHz SDRAM memory. There are various Satellite M115 configurations. The M115-S1061, M115-S1064 and M115-S1071, as same as the M115-S3094, M115-S3154 and M115-S3104 are listed on the Toshiba Direct web site.
The first group of Toshiba Satellite M115 notebooks are the M115-S1061, M115-S1064 and M115-S1071, based on ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Chipset. These laptops have battery life of up to 2.08 hours.
With an estimated single unit price starting under $700, the affordable Toshiba Satellite M115-S1061 model features an Intel Celeron M Processor 420 (1.60GHz, 1MB L2, 533MHz FSB), 512MB DDR2 SDRAM of memory, an 80GB serial-ATA hard disk drive and Atheros 802.11 (b/g) wireless. It has the Radeon Xpress 200M graphics chipset with 64MB of shared video memory, a CD-RW/DVD combo drive, 4 USB ports, LAN, 56K modem and PCMCIA card slot. The notebook features Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.
Toshiba Satellite M115-S1064 has the same hardware specifications as M115-S1061, but the M115-S1064 comes with Windows XP Media Center OS.
There is also similar Toshiba Satellite M115-S1071, which has XP Home, DVD burner instead of combo drive, and TV Out (S-Video).
The weight of Toshiba Satellite M115-S1061, M115-S1064 and M115-S1071 starts at 5.18 lbs.
The second group of laptops in the Satellite M115 series are the M115-S3094, M115-S3154 and M115-S3104 Intel Centrino notebooks based on Intel’s 945GM Express Chipset. These laptops have battery life of up to 3.97 hours.
Toshiba Satellite M115-S3094 has estimated price starting at under $850. It features the Intel Core Duo Processor T2050 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2, 533MHz FSB), a 512MB of DDR2 SDRAM memory, an 80GB SATA hard disk and a DVD double layer burner. The M115-S3094 has integrated Intel’s Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with 8MB-224MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory, and Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG (802.11a/b/g). It incorporates 4 USB ports, LAN, 56K modem, TV-out (S Video), i.LINK IEEE-1394, PCMCIA card slot and a 5-in-1 Bridge Media Adapter. It comes with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.
All the M115 laptops come in “Mist Gray” color, except “Smart Indigo” colored Toshiba Satellite M115-S3154. Except difference in color, the Satellite M115-S3154 is identical with M115-S3094 model.
Toshiba Satellite M115-S3104 is the same as M115-3094, except it has 1024MB of SDRAM instead of 512MB.
The weight of Toshiba Satellite M115-S3094, M115-S3154 and M115-S3104 starts at 5.2 lbs.
According to the Toshiba’s press release, the latest Satellite M115 series line is currently available from major consumer electronics and computer stores nationwide, while several configurations are available at select retailers.
