Toshiba launched today the Satellite M200/M205 14.1-inch notebook series, based on Intel’s processors and chipsets.
The available Toshiba Satellite M205-S3207, M200-ST2001, and M200-ST2002 models are priced at $949, $999, and $1,179 respectively.
The Satellite M205-S3207 features the Intel Pentium T2080 dual-core processor (1.73GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 533MHz FSB, 32-bit), the 943GML chipset with the integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950, 1GB of DDR2 system memory, a 160GB SATA hard drive at 5,400rpm, a DVD burner, the Atheros 801.11b/g wireless LAN, and an Ethernet port.
The M200-ST2001S is based on the Intel Core 2 Duo T5300 CPU (1.73GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 533MHz FSB, 64-bit), the GM945 chipset with the GMA 950, and has 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 160GB 5,400rpm SATA HDD, a DVD burner with Labelflash technology, Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG (802.11a/b/g) wireless, and a Gigabit Ethernet.
On the other side, the higher-end Toshiba Satellite M200-ST2002 uses the Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 processor (1.8GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB, 64-bit), the newer GM965 chipset with the integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, a 2GB DDR2 memory, a 200GB SATA hard drive at 4,200rpm, a Labelflash DVD burner, the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN (802.11a/g/draft n), and also a Gigabit Ethernet.
All of these notebooks have a 14.1″ widescreen display, providing 1280-by-800 pixel resolution, as well as a built-in web camera, stereo speakers, a 56k modem, a PCMCIA card slot, four USB ports, a 5-in-1 media card reader, and a FireWire port. There are also VGA and S-Video outputs. In addition, the M200-ST2001 and the M200-ST2002 feature a fingerprint reader.
These three laptops start at 5.5 pounds each and have the Onyx Blue Metallic lid.
The first Toshiba Satellite M200/M205 series notebooks come with Windows Vista Home Premium Edition operating system preloaded.
The Satellite M200-ST2001 and the Satellite M200-ST2002
are available through the Toshiba’s official website, while the M205-S3207 can be purchased through retail stores. Geeks.com offers it for a special price of $819.95.
