Toshiba today announced the Satellite P205, its new 17-inch widescreen multimedia notebook PC line, featuring models with a starting price of less than $1,000. The P205 laptops bring to Satellite P series some new features such as wireless N (802.11n draft), a webcam built into LCD bezel, and Labelflash technology for laser inscribing labels onto recordable DVD-R media.
Toshiba Satellite P205 Windows Vista laptops are based on Intel’s 943GML and 945GM chipsets and come with dual core Intel Pentium, Core Duo (Yonah) and Core 2 Duo (Merom) processors. The 17-inch diagonal widescreen displays of the P205 notebooks provide 1440×900 native resolution and are powered by Intel’s integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950. There are Satellite P205 models with one or two gigabytes of main memory and with up to 250GB of hard drive storage capacity.
Along with Atheros Wireless LAN 802.11b/g connection and Intel’s 802.11a/g/n module in select models, the P205 notebooks provide Ethernet LAN and a 56k modem.
There are also the keyboard with numeric pad, built-in Harman Kardon speakers, ExpessCard and PC Card slots, four USB ports, Fire-Wire, S-Video and VGA outputs, and 5-in-1 Bridge Media Adapter in each P205 computer.
