Toshiba today announced its redesigned Satellite laptop PCs with new finish and patterns, as well as with Sleep-and-Charge USB ports and facial recognition technology.
The new notebooks include four Toshiba Satellite models: the Satellite U400, Satellite M300, Satellite A300 and Satellite P300, with 13.3-inch, 14.1-inch, 15.4-inch and 17-inch widescreen displays.
“The Horizon pattern’s grey pinstripes set upon a field of black, combined with the new Fusion Finish pattern effectively gives each laptop a unique and modern appeal by sealing the laptop casing in a clear, glossy treatment,” Toshiba says, adding that the new Satellites feature touch-sensitive multimedia buttons called “Feather-Touch”.
“Innovative Sleep-and-Charge USB ports enable popular mobile devices such as MP3 players, mobile phones and PDAs to be charged whether the laptop is powered-on or off. A Webcam with facial recognition software provides users with a unique and fun and convenient way to gain access to the laptop based on a recorded digital image of the user’s face,” the press release says.
Additionally, the Satellite U400, M300, A300 and P300 incorporate Dolby Sound Room technology “to create a virtual surround sound experience through headphones or built-in stereo speakers for an enhanced movie watching experience”.
Regarding basic components, the redesigned Toshiba Satellite PCs have a variety of Intel and AMD processors. Select configurations come with discrete ATI Mobility Radeon HD3470 or HD3650 video cards and HDMI ports.
Currently, there is no information on pricing and availability.
