Toshiba Satellite X205-SLI4, SLI2The Toshiba Satellite X205-SLI4, the company’s new 17-inch gaming laptop, features an Intel Core 2 Duo “Penryn” 45-nanometer processor and the “Santa Rosa Refresh” mobile platform, according to a product page on Ecost.com.

The newest 45nm Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 CPU with a 2.1GHz clock speed and 3MB of L2 cache is paired with two Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT graphics cards in the Satellite X205-SLI4. These GPUs, which manage the notebook’s 17″ 1680×1050 display, operate in SLI mode and provide 512MB of dedicated GDDR3 video memory.

Priced at $2,489.99, the X205-SLI4 has a pair of 160GB 7200rpm hard drives, 3GB of system memory, a HD DVD optical drive, and four built-in Harman Kardon speakers accompanied by a subwoofer.

A HDMI connector included in the X205-SLI4 supports up to 1080i resolution and transmits 5.1-surround sound.

The Core 2 Duo Mobile “Penryn” processors, scheduled for an official release next month, are claimed to provide a better performance, lower power consumption, and cooler operation than the previous generation of laptop-use 65nm Core 2 Duos, codenamed “Merom”.

According to some other product pages, Toshiba also prepares the similar Satellite X205-SLI2 with unknown specifications. The X205-SLI2 will cost around $1,850.

The PC maker currently offers the “Merom”-based Satellite X205-SLI1 and X205-SLI3 gaming notebooks.
