Toshiba’s new 17-inch gaming notebooks – the Satellite X205-SLI5 and Satellite X205-SLI6 – are now available for purchase. These laptops feature dual Nvidia GeForce graphics, as well as faster Intel Core 2 Duo “Penryn†processors and more memory than in the previous SLI2 and SLI4 models.
The both preconfigured systems include two NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics cards in SLI mode, providing 512MB of GDDR3 dedicated video memory.
The Satellite X205-SLI5 comes with the Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 45-nanometer processor at 2.40GHz, 320GB of storage using two 160GB 7.200rpm hard drives, a 1440×900 WXGA+ 17″ display, and Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. On the other side the X205-SLI6 ships with the Core 2 Duo T9300 45nm CPU at 2.5GHz, 400GB of storage provided by two 200GB 7,200rpm HDDs, a 1680×1050 WSXGA+ screen, and Vista Ultimate OS. The both laptops have 3GB of main memory and a DVD burner. In addition, the SLI6 model includes an external USB HDTV tuner.
The new gaming notebooks also feature built-in Harman Kardon stereo speakers with one sub-woofer, embedded webcam, microphone, and fingerprint reader, the Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN (802.11a/g/n) and Bluetooth, as well as Gigabit Ethernet and 56k modem connections.
Along with HDMI, S-Video, and VGA outputs, the X205-SLI5 and X205-SLI6 have six USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, 5-in-1 media card reader, Firewire port, and S/P DIF output (shared with headphone port).
The notebooks start at 9.37 pounds. They feature the Flare Carmine lid.
The Toshiba Satellite X205-SLI5 and X205-SLI6 are available at ToshibaDirect.com for $1,949.99 and $2,449.99 respectively.
