Transcend has announced this week its flash memory-based 2.5-inch IDE Solid State Drive (SSD) line-up, featuring models with 32GB, 16GB and 8GB capacities.
Transcend’s 2.5-inch solid state drives with IDE interface have a metal case and anti-shock features for improved reliability. In addition, these SSDs have built-in ECC (Error Correction Code) functionality that “ensures highly reliable data transfer and increases your systems energy efficiency”. The new drives, which are designed to replace standard 2.5-inch hard disks in notebook computers, are also claimed to have low power consumption.
The announced units support up to Ultra DMA Mode 4.
Currently there is no information on pricing and availability of Transcend’s solid state drives.
