VoodooPC, a subsidiary of HP, yesterday unveiled the Voodoo Envy 133 luxury ultra-thin laptop PC with a variety of innovative features.
The Voodoo Envy 133 has a 13.3-inch 1,280×800 LED backlight display. The Envy 133 is only 0.7 inches thin and weighs less than 3.4 pounds. It is based on “the smallest available” Intel Centrino technology, and includes solid state drive options, wireless 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity, an embedded web camera, USB port and shared e-SATA/USB port, an HDMI output, and backlit keyboard. An external optical disk drive is included with every unit, and connects to the 133 via an e-SATA cable.
Some interesting innovations in this notebook include the Voodoo Aura PowerConnect, a multi-gesture touchpad, and IOS (Instant-On Solution).
“Voodoo Aura PowerConnect establishes a one-to-one wireless connection between the Envy 133 notebook and an Ethernet connector located on the power supply, allowing users to roam free from the wired connection. Multiple gesture touchpad provides capabilities such as a circular gesture called chiral scroll and pinch options,” the press relase says.
The proprietary instant-on capabilities of the Voodoo IOS provide users with “near-instant access to Internet browsers and Skype”.
Regarding security, the 133 comes with Lojack anti-theft software pre-installed, enabling users to track and disable missing systems.
The notebook includes a “fully-replaceable” battery, which gives approximately 3.45 hours of battery life between charges, according to the announcement.
VoodooPc’s 133 has a carbon fibre casing and fused composite glass covering the display. Customers are allowed to personalize their Envy 133 with Voodoo Allure paint colors and a selection of Voodoo Ink designs and Iconograph patterns.
The ultraportable has a starting price is $2,099, and will be available for purchase this summer.
