Windows VistaAlthough it was expected that Microsoft will release the Beta version of the Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista operating system this week, the software maker issued a statement instead, claiming that SP1 Beta will be made available “sometime this year”.

“There will be a Windows Vista service pack and our current expectation is that a beta will be made available sometime this year. Service packs are part of the traditional software lifecycle — they’re something we do for all Microsoft products as part of our commitment to continuous improvement, and providing early test builds is a standard practice that helps us incorporate customer feedback and improve the overall quality of the product,” Microsoft’s official statement says.

According to Josh’s Windows Weblog, which published the Microsoft’s statement, only a small “select” group of testers will be getting the early build of SP1.

“Microsoft doesn’t have a timeline for when a public beta will happen, and they added ‘not anytime soon’ to when we might see it,” the post on Josh’s blog says.
