Yoggie Gatekeeper to Save Your Laptop from Internet Threats

Yoggie Security Systems has today announced the launch of the Yoggie Gatekeeper, a credit-card sized computer that “physically isolates the laptop from incoming Internet threats”.

“The fact that Yoggie Gatekeeper is in the front-line instead of the laptop itself means it can protect from unknown attacks, dropping the connection as they are identified. If for any reason, the attack is successful, Yoggie Gatekeeper is hit first and will not allow further damage to the laptop”, the Yoggie’s web page says.

The Yoggie Gatekeeper includes a firewall, a VPN client, application level antivirus, robust IDS (Intrusion Detection System) and IPS (Intrusion Prevention System). It features full application level and transparent proxies (HTTP, STP, SMTP, POP3), which send content to be inspected by the antispyware security engine, layer 8 security engine, multi-layer security agent, antiphising, antispam and optional URL filtering.

Although it is made to protect the Windows XP platform, the Yoggie Gatekeeper is based on Linux operating system. It incorporates the processor, two separate network cards and two separate Flash memory units.

According to the Linux Devices web site, Yoggie Gateway is to be offered in Basic and Pro versions. The Pro version will have more RAM and flash memory, and a faster processor. Priced at $220, the Pro model also includes a mail proxy and email security features, which are not available in Basic $180 model.

Yoggie Gatekeeper will be available during November 2006, through distributors in the US, UK and Germany and soon via www.yoggie.com, the press release says.
