The Asus Q501LA-BBI5T03 15.6-inch 1080p laptop with touchscreen capability is cheaper and more modestly equipped than the $1,000 Q550LF-BBI7T07, but still a great notebook retailing for $750.
Instead of the 4th Generation Intel Core i7-4500U processor and the Nvidia GeForce GT 745M discrete video card, the Q501LA-BBI5T03 packs the slightly slower 4th Gen “Haswell” Intel Core i5-4200U and relies on the Intel HD 4400 integrated graphics. RAM and hard drive capacities are also lower – 6GB and 750GB, down from 8GB and 1TB.
Nevertheless, the included i5 with its advanced technologies such as TurboBoost and HyperThreading can juggle daily home and office computing tasks with ease, as well as more complex ones like high resolution video and photo editing.
But internal specifications are not the only difference. The Q501LA-BBI5T03 has a much sleeker appearance with a profile measuring 0.9″ and dark gray aluminum chassis with shape similar to the MacBoook Pro. It also lighter, weighing 5.1 pounds, down form 6 lbs on the Q550LF. Both notebooks have 2-cell batteries, but we have no info on battery life.
On the downside, the Q501LA doesn’t have a built-in optical drive.
A good thing is that both laptops have full HD 1080p resolution, which is a characteristic of premium laptops and provides plenty of real estate on the screen for Windows 8, apps, and movies.
Another one compelling feature is backlight beneath the light-gray keyboard keys.
Other ordinary notebook features found on the Asus Q501LA-BBI5T03, which can be found exclusively at Best Buy, are listed in the specs list below.
On the end, we want to mention some alternatives. Besides all other touch-enabled models, one more worth mentioning is the Toshiba P55t-A5202 because of its similarity with the Q501LA. It has the same screen resolution, CPU, and HDD capacity, but additionally provides a built-in DVD burner and Intel Wireless Display technology, all for $780.

So would you say this laptop can handle medium game graphics to little or no lag?
What the battery life like?
Can you play League of Legends with no lag?
Here’s a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EVZJiHsreM . It’s not the Q501LA, but the CPU is the same, so performance is same or very similar to it.
Can you play Minecraft on this computer with no lag ???
This guy (http://bit.ly/19rffms) was able to play Minecraft at full HD resolution and all settings set to maximum with about 20-35fps, depending on environment. You can lower some settings and get above 30fps constantly, which is completely smooth.
where can i buy this? not found anywhere(Canada)
I wasn’t able to find it anywhere in Canada, too. Sorry.
