Asus VivoTab Note 8 (M80TA) Windows Tablet with Wacom Digitizer Revealed

Asus VivoTab Note 8 M80TAThe Asus VivoTab Note 8 (M80TA) is a newly revealed 8-inch Windows 8 tablet with the Intel Atom Bay Trail processor, pen input support, and an affordable starting price of $300.

The Intel Atom Atom Z3740 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM memory, 32GB or 64GB internal storage capacity, and a free copy of Microsoft Office 2013 Home and Student edition are characteristics of the 8-inch Windows 8 affordable tablets. The Asus VivoTab Note 8 M80TA doesn’t stand out when it comes to the main specs, but it’s the first of its kind with Wacom’s digitizer pen input technology. We assume it’s optional, because it’s hard to imagine it’s a standard feature at the $300 price point. Dell was the first to introduce pen support in this tablet category, but its Venue 8 uses Synaptics pen (which hasn’t received good reviews), instead of Wacom.

Besides pen, you can normally use your fingers for interacting with the VivoTab Note 8, which supports 10-point touch. The display sports a 1280×800 resolution and IPS technology for good visibility from all angles.

Also are present microSD and micro USB port, but unfortunately any kind of video output is apparently missing. On the positive side, GPS is included alongside Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.

Unlike its bigger brother Asus T100TA, the M80TA doesn’t come standard with a keyboard dock, but the PC maker will offer a brand new Bluetooth-backed TransKeyboard, which is compatible with the 8-incher.

Other specs of the VivoTab Note 8 include front and rear 5MP / 1.2MP cameras, stereo speakers, and a 3950mAh 15Wh battery.

The device is 0.43″ thin and weighs 0.84 pounds. The revealed model is in black color.

Availability date of the tablet is unknown at the time of this writing.
