Intel Core i5-1340P (13th Gen) Laptop Processor

The 13th Generation Intel Core i5-1340P is an upper-mid range laptop processor. It’s an excellent choice for fast completion of everyday home and office computing tasks and offers some extra performance for heavier duties like media creation.

The P series Core processors, including the i5-1340P, are faster than their more widely used U series Core counterparts, such as the i5-1335U. On the negative side, the P series chips consume more power – 28 Watts instead of 15 Watts of the U series. On the other hand, the P series CPUs are slower and less power hungry than the 45-Watt H series CPUs that you can typically find in gaming and other high-performance laptops.

Laptop models with the Intel Core i5-1340P can be usually found with the more powerful i7-1360P option inside as well. However, the i5 variant in some CPU benchmarks can be faster than the i7. That’s probably because the latter has a slightly more powerful Intel Xe integrated graphics version, which consumes slightly more power and produces more heat at the expense of the speed of the main computing cores.

As for the graphics performance, the built-in Iris Xe graphics processor of Core i5-1340P provides entry-level capabilities. This means you can play only light PC games on it. On the positive side, the Iris Xe is faster than the Intel UHD series graphics processors you can find in the entry-level laptop CPUs.

Intel also offers a similar business-oriented variant of the CPU – the i5-1350P. It provides the Intel vPro enterprise-class manageability and security technology.
