Intel Core i7-11800H (11th Gen) Laptop Processor

The Intel Core i7-11800H is a high-performance laptop processor. With its eight processing cores and a high maximal clock speed of 4.6GHz, the i7-11800H is one of the best choices for intensive tasks like hard-core gaming or video editing. However, if you need excellent but not necessarily top-notch performance, there are very fast mainstream processors that consume less power and run cooler. For example, the AMD Ryzen 7 5800U with a power consumption of 15 Watts, while the Core i7-11800H consumes 45 Watts. Nevertheless, the 45 Watt H-series processors such as the i7-11800H are still standard CPUs for gaming and other high-performance laptops, which also include powerful graphics cards.

Intel Core i7-11800H CPU Benchmark

Here’s a benchmark comparison of the Intel i7-11800H against other popular laptop processors:

Intel Core i7-11800H Benchmark

Note: The benchmark scores of the listed processors are averages measured across various devices with these processors. The scores and real-world performance of the Intel Core i7-11800H and compared CPUs may vary depending on the notebooks' other components, settings, cooling, and other factors. However, the benchmark results are good indicators of the processors' performance.

When determining which CPU is faster and more powerful, what do you look at? According to HP, they told me to look at “Base Clock Speed” only.
But is that all there is to it? What about Cores, Threads and MB Cache aswell?
What does it mean when you see an older cpu with higher base clock speeds than a newer generation cpu with lower base clock speeds? Which is faster?

Thank You and I look forward to your feedback.

When I mention comparing CPUs, I mean within the same family. Like comparing 7th Gen to another 7th Gen.

      Thanks
