The updated Dell Inspiron and XPS notebooks, refreshed with the new Intel Core 2 Duo “Penryn” 45-nanometer processors, are now available for customers in Hong Kong.
Dell’s laptop series that feature “Penryn” CPUs are the Inspiron 1420, 1520, and 1720, as well as the XPS M1330 and XPS M1730.
The 14.1-inch Inspiron 1420 now can be configured with the 45nm Core 2 Duo T8100, T8300, T9300, and T9500, while the 15.4-inch 1520 comes with the T8100, T8300, and T9300. The 17-inch 1720 is configurable with the T8300, T9300, and T9500. Unfortunately, the latest Inspiron 15.4â€ 1525 is still offered only with the 65-nanometer Core 2 Duo “Merom” chips.
In the Dell XPS notebook line, Intel’s 45nm processors are available in the 13.3-inch M1330 laptops and in the 17-inch M1730 gaming notebooks. The M1330 is available with the Core 2 Duo T8100, T9300 and T9500 CPUS, while the M1730 now comes with the T8300, T9300 and T9500. The 15.4-inch M1530 is excluded from the processor refresh.

Currently, it is unknown when the “Penryn”-powered Dell consumer notebooks will hit the U.S. market.
