Intel launched this week six Intel Core 2 “Penryn” 45-nanometer notebook processors for their new Centrino 2 mobile platform, codenamed “Montevina”.
The dual core CPUs include five Core 2 Duo chips, the P8400, P8600, P9500, T9400, and T9600, as well as the overclockable Core 2 Extreme X9100.
The latest Core 2 Duo “Penryns” have core clock speeds ranging from 2.26GHz to 2.8GHz, depending on the processor model, while the X9100 runs at 3.06GHz. These 64-bit CPUs have a 1066MHz front side bus and up to 6MB of L2 cache. Power consumption (TDP) in the new processors is from 25 watts to 44 watts, depending on the model, while the prices range from $209 to $851 for 1000 units.
