  1. Thank you for making this deal watch. Is the $349 Surface Go deal exclusively for the Microsoft Store site?

  2. I picked up the Best buy m3 model of the surface pro 2017. it works pretty great but I have been considering returning it to get the Costco deal instead. Do you know if costco charges for shipping? it’s tough for me to tell since I’m not yet a Costco member but I’ve been thinking strongly about signing up. The other thing I was wondering about is if the Costco model specifically the i5 surface pro 6 is also a fanless type. Any thoughts on that?

    1. Hi, Costco pages of the Surface Pro 6 bundles (Item # 1275691 and 1277405 on Costco.com) say that “standard shipping via UPS Ground is included in the quoted price”. There’s also Express shipping is via UPS, but its pricing is only available at the check out (probably depends on your shipping address / location).

And yes, the Surface Pro 6 with the Intel Core i5 is fanless. The i7 variant is not fanless.

      Ragards!

        1. Yeah, a bit weird these Surface deals are not in the Costco Black Friday ad. They are in a separate Holiday Savings ad for deals available Nov. 16th – Nov. 26th. So, on paper they should be available on Black Friday too, but I’m not so sure about that because they marked the deals with “while supplies last”.

    1. All I was able to find were prices above $800, on Amazon for instance, and that’s for the basic 4GB / 128GB configuration without a keyboard cover and pen. That’s not a good value for the money, especially if you take into consideration prices and deals of the newer Surface Pro 5 and Pro 6.

  3. I bought the SP4 at best buy today. They included a type cover that normally cost $130 ish. It’s near $700 total with the stylus and 9% tax.

  4. i almost went ahead and bought the sp4 today but came across your article. how many more days until there will be more discounts, do you think?

    1. Usually, Best Buy has good Black Friday deals on Surface products. Their ad leaked last year around November 10th, so around that date I expect their deals to appear on this page. Also, the Microsoft Store will very likely offer some instant savings. I expect their ads a little bit later, maybe in the week prior to Black Friday. Surprisingly, Amazon had excellent deals last year. Select models were cheaper there even before Black Friday & Cyber Monday than on Best Buy and MS Store on BF and CM.

    1. The Intel Core m3-6y30 in the basic Surface Pro 4 scores around 3,000 points in popular PassMark benchmark, while the i5-6300U scores around 4,300. If you’re only into basic work like web surf, Office, Netflix etc, this difference isn’t huge. But it will be noticeable in heavy tasks like video production etc.

However, a great advantage of the Intel m3-based SP4 is its fanless design. The m3 has much lower cooling requirements and also consumes less power than the i5 and i7 versions, so you should have a slightly better battery life with it.

      1. Just starting to look for a Surface deal. So do all of the Surface i5 configurations use a fan? I kinda like the idea of no noise while using a tablet.

        1. You are interested in the Surface PRO, right? The Surface Pro 5 and 6 with the Core i5 are both fanless. As far as I remember older Pro models with the i5 have fans. The i5 Surface Laptop 1 & 2 have fans, too. I also know the 13.5″ Surface Book 2 with i5 is fanless. For the rest of the lineup I would have to check online.

    1. At the Microsoft Store it starts at $799, which is the lowest price for the i5 / 4GB / 128GB model. If it’s sold out when you visit the site (it goes to “out of stock” status frequently), the next best option is the same device at Amazon for $877. That the price for a Windows 8.1-based configuration, but you can upgrade it to Windows 10 for free. But keep in mind that for only $23 more you can regularly get the Surface Pro 4 Intel Core i5 / 128GB for $999. At Best Buy, the i5/128GB SP3 configuration is out of stock, but the i5/256GB one is still available for $999.

  5. Do the Surface Pro 3 Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals include any kind of Microsoft Office software?

    1. If you’re referring to the points in the Black Friday / Cyber Monday 2015 deals list, these are PassMark benchmark scores for devices’ processors.

  6. how are those deals when you can get a surface pro 3 on amazon right now with 512gb for $ 1599.00

    1. Thanks for the tip Craig. I’ve included the 512GB Surface Pro 3 deal in the post. On the other hand, the 256GB i7 model is currently $1,297.99 on Amazon, while Best Buy will sell it $1,249.99, so Best Buy’s deal is definitely worth mentioning. Also, Microsoft Store’s deals can be potentially better than the current Amazon’s, since for instance the cheapest model on Amazon is offered with $80 off, whereas MS Store currently offers $100 off on it, with possibility to reduce the price even further on Nov. 26th. But, yeah, Amazon’s page will be worth checking out in the following days, since they change / lower the prices quite often.

  7. Any news on free keyboards like last year? There was Surface 2 with keyboard for $200. The $300 deal w/o keyboard isn’t worth it.

    1. Nothing so far. By the way, the $200 deal was actually for the original Surface RT 1 and keyboard. It was an excellent deal anyway. I’ve checked Micro Center again this year, but no such or similar offers are available.
