The Asus ZenBook Pro UX501 (UX501VW-DS71T) is a premium-class thin-and-light 15.6-inch notebook with an Ultra HD 4K high-resolution touchscreen, powerful internal components, backlit keyboard, some of the latest high-end laptop features, and elegant sliver-colored aluminum-unibody chassis.
The UX501VW-DS71T model with its 4K 3,840-by-2,160-pixel screen resolution provides a very sharp image, while IPS technology ensures wide viewing angles. The machine includes the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M 2GB mid-range dedicated video card, the powerful Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad-core processor from the latest 6-Gen “Skylake-H” family, 16GB of DDR4 system memory and 512GB of solid state drive storage. The SSD storage solution is based on PCIe Gen3 x4 technology for ultimate performance when it comes to program loading times, file copying, and other operations.
Another avanced perk is Thunderbolt III technology for extremely fast communication with compatible devices via the new USB Type-C port. The laptop also includes stereo speakers, a web camera, 802.11AC wireless and Bluetooth interfaces, three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI external display output, multi-format card reader, and a combo audio connector. However, not all standard notebook features are available. What’s missing is a DVD drive and Ethernet LAN network port.
The battery of the Asus ZenBook Pro UX501VW-DS71T has a great capacity of 96 WHr, which should translate to claimed “up to six hours” of operation on a single charge. That’s a long battery life considering the notebook has the power-consuming i7 processor, dedicated GPU, and 4K screen.
As same as with other premium laptops, Asus includes a 1-year accidental damage protection warranty, which covers drop accidents, liquid spills, and power surges.
Note: This post was first released as an overview of the older UX501JW-DS71T model, with a 4th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU. The UX501VW-DS71T is its update with the Skylake i7-6700HQ CPU, Gen 3 PCIe x4 SSD, and Thunderbolt III as the main differences.
