Dell Inspiron 11 3000 3168 / i3168 Affordable 11.6″ 2-in-1 Touch Notebook
The Dell Inspiron 11 3000 3168 / i3168 is a typical compact budget-class 2-in-1 laptop, transformable into a tablet or multimedia stand thanks to its band-back design. The 3.1-pound convertible notebook offers a basic 11.6-inch touch display, entry-level performance, plastic casing available in multiple colors, Windows 10 Home OS, and a starting price of around $250.
The multi-touch screen has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels and TN panel technology. The display doesn’t offer sharpness of Full HD displays nor IPS tech-based wide viewing angles. Although that’s expected at price points lower than $300, it’s worth noting that the older Dell Inspiron 11 3000 model does come with IPS.
As for performance, the Dell 3168 / i3168 can satisfy your day-to-day computing needs. The offered Intel Celeron N3060, Intel Pentium N3710, and Intel Core m3 6Y30 processors are capable of completing the daily web surfing, Microsoft Office, and media consumption tasks without major slowdowns. You should however keep in mind that the chips belong to the lower end of the CPU spectrum, with the Celeron being one of the slowest laptop processors on the market. System memory options are 2GB and 4GB, with the first one being enough only for running an app or two simultaneously. The cheapest of all Dell Inspiron 11 3000 3168 / i3168 configurations comes with only 32GB of eMMC-based internal storage. This option should be avoided if you need any decent amount of storage space for your files and programs. To make things easier, a microSD card slot is provided for storage expansion. Another storage choice when buying the 3168 is a slower but more capacious 500GB hard disk drive.
The laptop has stereo speakers and a frontal 720p camera for video chats. For internet connectivity, you can use the built-in 802.11N Wi-Fi wireless interface. There are also a Bluetooth connection, two USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 connector, HDMI video out jack, a combo microphone / headphones port, and the aforementioned microSD card slot.
Besides a lack of IPS, another downgrade in comparison to the previous Inspirion 11 3000 is the battery. It now comes with a 32 WHr unit, instead of 43 WHr. Nevertheless, Dell claims the 3168 can last “up to 9 hours and 47 minutes” on a single battery charge.
The device is currently available with blue and red casing finish and is also expected to be available in less prominent gray color.

Dell states that the max memory is 4. They also state that the 8gb ram will be unbootable. What really bothers me is that there is a company on Amazon site that is selling the 8gigs of ram for the Inspiron 11 model 3168. It has only one review that is a 5 star, verified purchase. Buyer Beware. Please respond to this if I am Right OR Wrong.

The Dell 3168 has a single RAM slot, so you’ll have to remove the existing one (which is either 2GB or 4GB) and put in an 8GB DDR3L RAM module. To access the RAM slot, you’ll have to remove the bottom cover, which is held by 10 screws.
