HP 15-f162dx J9M38UA#AB 15.6″ Touch-Screen Laptop with Intel i3
The HP 15-f162dx (J9M38UA#AB) is a laptop with a 15.6-inch touch-screen display, Intel’s Core i3 processor, and Windows 8.1 operating system as the main characteristics.
Although the latest 5th Generation Intel Core processors with improved performance-per-watt ratio are already available on the market, the 15-f162dx sticks to the older 4th Gen Intel Core i3-4030U CPU with the Intel HD 4400 integrated graphics. The CPU and its graphics processor offer a lower-mid-range performance, meaning they will complete the routine daily tasks with ease and be able to run less demanding games. In addition, it can handle photo and video editing, as long as you have some time to finish each task.
To help you with multitasking, HP has included 6GB of RAM memory instead of usual 4GB. Hard drive is on a capacious side, too. It is 750GB large, up from common 500GB. The laptop boasts a built-in DVD burner.
Display resolution on the 15-f162dx J9M38UA#AB is 1366-by-768 pixels. The screen supports 10-point multi-touch input, accompanying a full-size keyboard with numeric pad and spacious trackpad with physical buttons for left and right clicks. The keyboard has no backlight.
For sound reproduction, the laptop has stereo speakers, while for video chats it provides a webcam with VGA resolution, which is low for today’s standards.
Networking and connectivity feature set is well rounded. There are Wireless-N and Ethernet LAN network interfaces, three USB ports, HDMI video output port, audio combo jack, and a media card reader.
The included 31Whr battery doesn’t deliver a long run time on the notebook, given it has a relatively large touch display and the Core i3 CPU. Hewlett-Packard says the battery life is up to 3.5 hours at best.
This matte black plastics-clad notebook weighs in at 5 pounds and has a 1″ thin profile.
HP’s 15-f162dx J9M38UA#AB doesn’t impress with exceptional design nor insane overall performance, but this reasonably priced machine will get your daily home / office job done and give you touchscreen input and ample of data storage space.
