The HP Stream 11 11-ah117wm is an ultra-cheap ultra-portable laptop. The 11.6-incher will be sold for only $159 this Black Friday at Walmart.
The Stream 11 11-ah117wm has a small 11.6″ screen with basic HD resolution and TN technology. TN technology means narrower viewing angles than on IPS displays.
Inside its black plastic chassis, the 11-ah117wm carries the Intel Celeron N4000 entry-level processor. Combined with 4GB of RAM, the N4000 can provide a satisfactory user experience only for non-demanding PC tasks, such as web browsing, web chats, media playback, or work in Microsoft Office apps. The good thing is the Celeron N4000 as a low-power processor runs cool and doesn’t require a cooling fan. So, the Stream 11 is fanless and therefore completely silent.
What’s quite limiting on this laptop is size of its internal eMMC storage of only 32GB. Thankfully, the laptop has a microSD card slot, so you can expand storage space using a microSD card.
The mini-notebook has a 38 WHr battery. It isn’t very capacious, but since the laptop uses a power-efficient Celeron chip and has a small screen, you can expect a good battery life. Hewlett-Packard estimates the battery life of the Stream 11 can last “up to 12 hours and 30 minutes” during video playback.
On the software side, it is worth noting that HP has included a free Office 365 Personal 1-year subscription (regularly priced at $70). You should also keep in mind that the HP Stream 11 11-ah117wm runs Windows 10 in S mode by default. S mode allows you to use only built-in Windows 10 apps and apps you can find in Microsoft Store, in order to ensure better security and performance. But, you can switch to full Windows 10 Home free of charge and run all the traditional Windows programs as well.
