The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (7th Gen) is Lenovo’s flagship 2019 thin-and-light business laptop. The highly portable 2.4 pound notebook features a 14-inch display and Intel’s computing platform packed in a 0.6″ thin mil-spec tested rugged case. The basic ThinkPad X1 Carbon (7th Gen) configuration named 20QD001TUS is currently a popular laptop because it has the most prominent place in Lenovo’s Black Friday & Cyber Monday 2019 ad. Besides the entry 20QD001TUS, there are many configurations of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th Gen, with various component upgrades.
The IPS wide viewing angle 14″ screen of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th Gen 20QD001TUS has Full HD resolution. It is upgradeable with up to Ultra HD resolution and optional touchscreen.
The 20QD001TUS is based on the 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8265U quad-core processor, which can effortlessly handle the regular home and office tasks. There are faster Intel Core i5 and i7 U-series processor options available on the X1 Carbon 7th Gen, including the latest 10th Gen Intel Core i5 and i7 U. But, it’s questionable whether you’ll be able to tell the difference during the common computing tasks.
The 20QD001TUS comes with 8GB of system memory (RAM). The X1 Carbon 7th Gen is also available with 16GB, but in both cases the memory is soldered onto the motherboard and therefore not upgradeable after the purchase. Anyway, 8GB is a very decent size that can support usual multi-tasking scenarios.
For storing data, the 20QD001TUS provides a fast but not overly capacious 256GB solid state drive, while the X1 Carbon 7th Gen series is generally available with up to 1TB of SSD storage.
The battery has a decent capacity of 51 WHr.
Other highlights of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (7th Gen) are its spill-resistant keyboard with backlight and Lenovo’s recognizable pointing stick in the middle of it, a built-in fingerprint reader, Thunderbolt 3.0 data transfer technology, and optionally built-in face recognition camera and mobile broadband network connectivity.
The 20QD001TUS comes with Windows 10 Pro version.
Usual starting price: around 1,140 USD* as of November 29, 2019.
