Hewlett-Packard has launched its first 7-inch Windows tablet recently, with an exceptional price of only $100. You can find it at various retailers, but Microsoft Store offers it under HP Stream 7 Signature Edition Tablet<\/strong> name. Alongside the small 7″ display with 1280-by-800 pixel resolution, the tablet has only 1GB of RAM, but in other aspects it isn’t the lowest-end device. Signature Edition simply means Microsoft has cleaned it up of various trial-ware programs new Windows-based computers are usually cluttered with. They can noticeably slow down the system and unnecessarily take storage space. Also, the HP Stream 7 Signature Edition Tablet is pre-loaded with a free anti-virus program, so it comes with enhanced security out of the box.<\/p>\n

The included Intel Atom Z375G<\/a> quad-core processor from the power-efficient “Bay Trail” CPU family is suitable for daily home and office operations and even some occasional gaming. The screen has IPS technology for wider viewing angles and this feature is usually reserved for pricier tablets. As for storage, included 32GB isn’t spacious by no means, but competing similarly priced tablets have only 16GB and you should definitely avoid them. The <\/p>\n

Other features worth mentioning are 0.3MP front and 2MP rear cameras, 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless, Bluetooth, microSD card reader, micro USB port, and 3000 mAh Li-ion polymer battery for u to 8 hours of use on a single charge. Unfortunately, the tablet has only one mono speaker instead of stereo sound.<\/p>\n

The Stream 7 is one of the smallest computers running Windows OS. It weighs 0.8 lbs and has a 0.4″ thin profile.<\/p>\n

Specs-wise, the HP Stream 7 is clearly the winner in the ultra-cheap Windows tablet category. Its small RAM memory size is the biggest drawback, but if you don’t multitask a lot, you won’t notice the limitations much. We applaud HP for using IPS display on a tablet this cheap. If you add a free 1-year Microsoft Office 365 Personal subscription included in the package for free ($70 value), the Stream 7 is really a tempting offer by HP. Especially given that Microsoft will soon roll out unlimited OneDrive cloud storage for free for all Office 365 users. Add Signature Edition to the mix, and you’ll get one of the best Windows tablet offers ever.<\/p>\n
