The cheapest full-size notebook in Walmart’s 2015 Black Friday ad is an “HP 15.6″ laptop” for $199. On Walmart.com, the laptop is listed under title HP Black 15.6″ 15-f209wm Laptop PC with Intel Celeron N2840 Processor, 4GB Memory, 500GB Hard Drive and Windows 10 Home<\/strong><\/em>. The title pretty much explains characteristics of this budget notebook. It should be further noted that it also has a built-in DVD burner as an important fact.<\/p>\n

The Intel Celeron N2840 dual-core processor we reviewed<\/a> some time ago is an entry-level chip. When paired with 4GB of RAM<\/a>, the N2840 can be a decent solution for home and office tasks of the average user, multimedia consumption, some casual low-end gaming, and moderate multitasking. The included 500GB hard drive<\/a> spinning at 5,400rpm is an typical and relatively slow budget notebook HDD. Considering the Black Friday price \/ performance ratio, the 199-dollar HP 15-f209wm laptop is relatively a good deal. However, it’s worth noting that a very similar notebook was on Black Friday sale last year for only $159.<\/p>\n

As for the word “black” in the name, it doesn’t mean the 15-f209wm is a part of some special black edition notebook series. It simply describes the color of the chassis. Walmart usually highlights casing colors in the titles on notebook product pages. This model actually belongs to the HP 15 series, which is a budget one. Therefore, it’s a simple machine without premium materials or excessive bells and whistles. Among potentially useful features missing on this configuration, the important one is touchscreen support.<\/p>\n

The 15-f209wm isn’t an ugly notebook. On contrary, it has a very slim profile of 0.9″ so it has a kind of sleek appearance. The casing overall looks utilitarian and unobtrusive with its matte black finish and simple shape without unnecessary curves and elements.<\/p>\n

Alongside the aforementioned core specs, worth attention are the screen<\/a> resolution of 1366×768 pixels, a full-size keyboard with numeric pad, and trackpad with mechanical click buttons which is usually a better solution than the integrated ones. The laptop has stereo speakers, a VGA-quality webcam, and a decent selection of connectivity features. The 15-f209wm has three US ports, HDMI output for hooking up to monitors and TVs, and a multi-in-one media card reader.<\/p>\n

Hewlett-Packard hasn’t provided info on battery life but the 3-cell batteries in the HP 15 series laptops can usually provide around 4 hours or power autonomy.<\/p>\n
