The Asus Q524UQ<\/strong> is a higher-end 15.6-inch convertible 2-in-1 notebook series. The laptop is characterized by the popular band-back multi-mode design, admirable internal components, and sleek looks with black aluminum finish.<\/p>\n

There are two SKUs from the series available in the US stores. The Q524UQ-BI7T20<\/strong> and Q524UQ-BHI7T15<\/strong>. Except the model name, we weren’t able to find any differences between them. They both feature the 7th Generation Intel Core i7-7500U processor, the Nvidia GeForce 940MX video card, 12GB of system memory, a 2-Terabyte hard drive, Full HD display resolution, keyboard backlight, and Windows 10 Home operating system. <\/p>\n

The FHD 1920×1080-pixel 15.6″ touch-screen is mounted on a pair of robust “gunmetal” hinges. Online product pages of the Asus Q524UQ-BI7T20 and Q524UQ-BHI7T15 don’t mention IPS technology for wide viewing angles, but Asus’ official website lists IPS as one of the features of the Q524UQ series. Therefore, it’s safe to assume IPS is included in the available models.<\/p>\n

With its “sandblasted” matte black aluminum finish and “gunmetal” hinges, the Q524UQ-BI7T20 \/ Q524UQ-BHI7T15 is not only premium looking. It’s also one of the most powerful 2-in-1 laptop PCs performance-wise. The included Intel Core i7-7500U<\/a> is among the fastest CPUs for the mainstream laptop category, while the GeForce 940MX<\/a> 2GB video card provides some extra graphics muscle for handling games. When you add large memory and hard drive capacities of 12GB and 2TB (~2000GB) to the mix, you get a quite capable machine for the routine day-to-day duties, a decent potential for more demanding media creation and similar tasks and 3D gaming support, a great multitasking ability, and a plenty of storage space for users files. Most users won’t need anything more powerful than this. The only downside is that the storage device is a traditional mechanical hard drive, instead of much faster solid state drives. For comparison, the very similar Acer R 15<\/a> 2-in-1 has a speedy SSD, but also much lower storage capacity of 256GB.<\/p>\n

The Asus Q524UQ-BI7T20 and Q524UQ-BHI7T15 stand out from the crowd in the audio department. Besides built-in stereo speakers, Asus has additionally provided an external subwoofer speaker for extra bass. It’s included in the package by default. The sound is optimized via Bang & Olufsen ICEpower audio technology.<\/p>\n

Another uncommon perk is support for Thunderbolt 3 standard for extremely fast data transfer to and from compatible external devices. Thunderbolt 3 is provided via a USB-C port. Besides the USB-C connector, there are three standard-size USB 3.0 ports, HDMI video output, an SD memory card reader, a combo jack for headphones and microphone, and a dedicated jack for the subwoofer. For networking, the Q524UQ-BI7T20 \/ Q524UQ-BHI7T15 provides 802.11AC Wi-Fi wireless connection. Bluetooth is present, too. As expected, the Q524UQ has a built-in webcam. It sports 720p resolution.<\/p>\n

According to Asus, the 4-cell battery of the Q524UQ-BI7T20 \/ Q524UQ-BHI7T15 delivers “up to 6.5 hours” of power autonomy. <\/p>\n

The Q524UQ weighs in at 5.1 pounds, which is an average weight for this type of a 2-in-1 notebook.<\/p>\n
