Toshiba Satellite Click W35Dt-A3300 13.3″ Laptop / Tablet Hybrid

Toshiba Satellite Click W35Dt-A3300

The W35Dt-A3300 is one of the Toshiba Satellite Click laptop/tablet hybrid configurations. The device sports a 13.3-inch touchscreen display and a detachable keyboard dock. The screen diagonal may appear enourmously large if you compare it to usual 10″ and 7″ tablets, but the resolution isn’t high. It’s 1,366×768 pixels on all W35 series models, so if you want a full HD screen you’ll have to look elsewhere. A good thing is that the display has IPS screen technology, ensuring the picture is good from all viewing angles.

Inside the tablet part, incorporated are the very basic AMD Dual-Core A4-1200 processor and averagely sized 4GB or RAM memory. The A4-1200 runs at only 1GHz and is among the slowest tablet / laptop processors, but also among the most power efficient. You can find out more about it on this page. Overall, it can be used only for the basic daily tasks and unlike the Nvidia Tegra CPU in the Microsoft Surface, the A4 supports the classic x86 Windows programs

The Satellite Click W-series comes with a traditional laptop hard drive instead of a solid state drive, usually used in tablets. The size of it in the W35Dt-A3300 configuration is 500GB so it’ll provide much more storage space than the usual 128GB SSD and keep the cost of the machine down. On the other side, a mechanical HDD has slower reading and writing speeds, and consumes more energy than an SSD.

Other features worth mentioning are two pairs of stereo speakers, one in the keyboard for use in the laptop mode and one in the tablet for its standalone use, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections, micro HDMI, mini USB, microSD card reader, and combo headphone/mic jack on the tablet, as well as a USB 3.0 port on the keyboard dock.

The Click has dual batteries. One is located in the tablet part and another one is in the keyboard. Both of them are equal and have 2-cells. When combined, they can deliver up to 10 hours of run time on a single charge according to Toshiba.

To find out more about physical characteristics and other features of the Toshiba Satellite Click W35Dt-A3300, you can check out our mini review of the W30 / W35 series. In short, it’s a pretty much bulky for a tablet, but it provides a large display and full Windows 8(.1) experience, all packed in a sturdy aluminum chassis. Besides AMD’s CPUs, the device will be also available with Intel Core-series processors and these models will have cooling fans.

The W35Dt-A3300 will be obviously the most entry-level configuration and therefore the cheapest one. It’s currently priced at $600. Other models are expected to hit the market soon.

UPDATE: A good alternative to the W35Dt is the HP Split X2 13-M110DX with the much faster 4th Gen Intel Core i3. It’s $730 now, but the price will drop to $500 during Best Buy’s Black Friday sales.
