The HP Stream 8 5801 8-inch inexpensive Windows tablet stands out from the crowd with its 4G LTE mobile broadband connectivity, helping you stay online while on the go. The 150-dollar Intel Atom CPU-powered slate with 1GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage uses T-Mobile’s network for 4G data transfers. Users get 200MB of free 4G data each month for the life of the device, without annual contract required. In addition, a free 1-year subscription for Microsoft Office 365 Personal is included.

The 8″ screen has the standard and mediocre 1280×800-pixel resolution. We applaud HP for using IPS screen technology on this very cheap device, so wide viewing angles are guaranteed.

Regarding computing performance, the Intel Atom “Bay Trail” Z375G quad-core processor is able to handle the most common web, office, and multimedia consumption tasks, but not much more than that. Computing power is further reduced by very limited RAM size. 1 Gigabyte simply isn’t enough for comfortable multitasking, so you will be satisfied in this aspect only if you run a small number of apps at the same time. Storage of 32GB is very limited too for a device based on Windows OS.

The Stream 8 has stereo speakers, a 2-megapixel front and 5MP rear camera, 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless alongside 4G LTE connection, Bluetooth, a microSD media card slot, and a micro USB port.

It weighs 0.9 lbs and has a profile measuring 0.4″. The lid is made of quality matte black plastics.

If you don’t need 4G and don’t mind having a bit smaller screen, HP has for you the 7-inch Stream 7 for only 100 bucks. True, the smaller version has some additional disadvantages, namely a mono speaker instead of stereo and lower resolution cameras.
