Select online retailers in the United States have started to offer the Lenovo IdeaPad S9, a new 8.9-inch netbook.
Geeks.com and Buy.com sell a 2.4-pound S9 model with the Intel Atom N270 processor at 1.6GHz, GMA 950 graphics, 512MB of DDR2 memory, a 4GB solid state drive, and Linpus Linux Lite operating system. The LED-backlit display has a resolution of 1024×600 pixels.
The e-tailers haven’t provided info on battery capacity.
Other features of the IdeaPad S9 include a 0.3-megapixel web camera, stereo speakers, 802.11 b/g Wireless LAN, Bluetooth, Ethernet LAN, two USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, 4-in-1 media card reader, and a VGA output.
The netbook is priced at $344.99 and $359.46 at Geeks and Buy, respectively.
The previously released 10.2-inch IdeaPad S10 starts at $349. The basic configuration has 512MB of RAM, an 80GB hard drive, and Windows XP Home OS.
“The e-tailers haven’t provided info on battery capacity.”
The batteries are 3-cell, according to Lenovo that’s all that the S9 ships with. Battery life wise that probably means 2.5hr if it’s similar to the 3-cell in my Aspire One running the same OS.
