Toshiba Satellite U305/U300 Notebook Series Announced

Toshiba has announced today Satellite U305 13.3-inch notebook PC series aimed at students and small business owners. The U305 is based on the latest Intel “Santa Rosa” or the older “Napa” platform, depending on model.

The U305’s 13.3-inch widescreen display provides 1280 x 800 screen resolution. These laptops, which weigh starting at 4.6 pounds, come with DVD burner and integrated 1.3 megapixel web camera. All of U305 notebooks support up to 4GB of system memory.

The Satellite U305-S5127 model features “Santa Rosa’s” Intel GM965 chipset with Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 and comes with Core 2 Duo T7100 processor at 1.8GHz. It is configured with 2GB of DDR2 memory, a 200GB SATA hard drive at 4200rpm and 1GB Intel Turbo Memory. The U305-S5127 costs $1,399.

Toshiba Satellite U305-S5097 ($899) and U305-S5107 ($1,149) are built on “Napa’s” Intel 943GML/943GM chipsets with the integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950. These systems come with Pentium dual-core T2130 1.83MHz and Intel Core 2 Duo T5300 1.73GHz processors respectively. The U305-S5097 has 1GB of DDR2 memory, while the U305-S5107 includes 2GB DDR2 SDRAM. Both laptops have a 160GB SATA hard drive at 5400rpm.

Regarding communications, U305-S5127 and U305-S5107 support 802.11a/g/draft n wireless standards and have integrated Bluetooth modules. The lower-end U305-S5097 supports 802.11b/g only. All of them have Ethernet LAN and 56K modem connections.

Toshiba Satellite U305 notebooks have ExpressCard slots, three USB ports, 5-in-1 media card reader, Firewire and VGA output. For enhanced security, there is a fingerprint reader in each model.

These laptops ship with Windows Vista operating systems and are available at retail and ToshibaDirect.com.

The computer maker also offers the configurable “Napa”-based Satellite U300-ST3091 with starting price of $854.

debido a que he tenido muchos problemas con windows vista, cambiamos nuestro equipo a windows xp profesional, peo me encuentro con la sorpresa que en su website, no hay ningun tipo de drivers tanto de lan como de audio para este sistema operativo, les agradeceria me enviaran los datos donde puedo encontrar estos drivers.
