Dell Precision M4600, M6600 Mobile Workstations Now Available in US

Dell Precision M4600Dell has made available for US customers the recently launched Precision M4600 and Precision M6600 mobile workstations, featuring the latest high-end Intel processors, professional video cards from AMD and Nvidia, and advanced display options.

The 15.6-inch M4600 and 17.3″ M6600 ship with the 2nd generation Intel Core i7 Extreme quad-core processors, AMD FirePro Mobility and Nvidia Quadro dedicated video cards with up to 2GB GDDR5 video memory, Nvidia switchable GPU technology and AMD Eyefinity multi-display feature in select configurations, and up to 32GB of 1333MHz or up to 16GB of faster 1600MHz DDR3 RAM.

According to Dell, the M4600 comes with up to 750GB of hard drive space and RAID 0 and 1 support, while the M660 supports RAID 0, 1 and 5 modes and includes an optional 128GB solid state drive module. For external storage, there are USB 3.0 and eSATA ports, while video output is enabled through DisplayPort, HDMI, and VGA connectors.

The laptops provide a choice of “100 percent color correct” PremierColor IPS RGB LED display with special calibration software. Previously announced multi-touch capability option with four-finger and pen input support is not currently available.

Also, the mobile workstations provide enhanced durability with their MIL-STD 810G-certified aluminum and magnesium alloy cases, which can withstand extreme temperatures, vibration, dust, altitude and shock.

The laptops can be ordered now with base prices of $1,149.00 for the Precision M4600 and $1,649.00 for the M6600. The estimated ship date for these machines is 06/07/2011.
