The EliteBook 8560p has a platinum-colored case with a “bead-blast” finish and an aluminum-alloy hinge. The chassis meets MIL-STD 810G military-standards for drop, vibration, dust, humidity, altitude, and high temperature.
CPU choices range from the dual-core Intel Core i3-2310M at 2.1GHz to quad-core Intel Core i7-2820QM at 2.3GHz, while graphics solution includes the AMD Radeon HD 6470M 1GB dedicated video card besides Intel HD integrated graphics. There are also two SODIMM slots for up to 16GB of DDR3 memory, hard drive capacity of up to 750GB or a 128GB or 160GB solid state drive, and an upgrade bay that can be populated with an optical drive or secondary HDD.
The 15.6″ LED-backlight display has antiglare coating and resolution of 1366×768 or 1600×900 pixels, depending on customer’s choice.
The 8560p features an optional 720p web camera, stereo speakers, a spill-resistant chiclet-style keyboard with a numeric pad, a trackpad that is larger than on the previous generation EliteBooks, and a point stick in the center of the keyboard.
Regarding connectivity, the notebook supports 802.11n wireless, optional Bluetooth, and Ethernet LAN. The HP un2430 EV-DO/HSPA mobile broadband option will be available in 2Q 2011, according to HP.
Ports and slots include, two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0, and an eSATA/USB combo connector, VGA and DisplayPort video outputs, an ExpressCard slot, Smart Card reader, an SD/MMC memory card slot, FireWire, a docking connector, and a secondary battery connector.
For security, the notebook includes a fingerprint reader, the TPM 1.2 embedded security chip, optional hard drive self-encryption, and various software-based security features.
Intel’s vPro system management technology is available in select Core i5 and i7-powered configurations.
Battery options are 3-, 6-, and 9-cell units, which can be accompanied by an extended battery to deliver “industry-leading battery run time”.
The HP EliteBook 8560p starts at 6.25 pounds with the optical drive and runs Windows 7 OS.
It’s expected to be available in the US on March 15 for a base price of $1,099.
