The Acer Aspire E5-571P-31LT 15.6-Inch Touchscreen Laptop (Midnight Black) is a budget-class laptop, but not among the lowest-end ones. Besides touchscreen support, the E5-571P-31LT includes a very good Intel Core i3-4030U dual-core processor with noticeably better computing speed than the entry-level Intel Celeron and Pentium chips.

For instance the i3-4030U scores around 2,800 points in PassMark’s CPU benchmark test, whereas the currently available Celerons and Pentiums score around 1,100 and 1,800, respectively. In the real life, the i3 will be good for the daily home and office chores, and occasionally for complex stuff like multimedia creation. If you do the latter on regular basis, you should get a laptop with at least Intel Core i5 CPU and preferably quad-core i7.

If you exclude touchscreen and the i3 CPU, the Acer Aspire E5-571P-31LT is a typical low-cost machine. It has 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, 1366×768 screen resolution, and non-backlit keyboard. Acer has omitted a DVD drive on this model. Present are stereo speakers, web camera, HDMI video output port, three USB connectors, a media card reader, and Wi-Fi, Ethernet LAN, and Bluetooth connections.

With a weight of almost six pounds and 1.2″ thickness, the laptop is quite bulky in comparison to similar models. On the positive side, the battery is big. It has 5000mAh capacity and provides “up to 7 hours” of battery life, according to Acer.

The case is done up in black plastics, with finish resembling brushed metal.
